PasteCrate

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 2, 2026

Clipboard history is stored locally. iCloud sync and nearby transfer are optional. Feedback is sent only when you choose to submit it.

1. Local clipboard history

PasteCrate stores the content you save, its local search index, organization and preferences on your device. This may include text, links, images and file references. The developer does not receive your clipboard history. You control capture and can delete saved items or clear your history.

On Mac, clipboard capture runs while enabled. On iPhone and iPad, saving happens through an action you initiate, such as Paste, the share extension or a Shortcut. The optional keyboard only inserts previously saved text: it does not record keystrokes, read the current document or access the network, and does not request Full Access. iOS does not permit continuous background clipboard monitoring. Sensitive clipboard flags and excluded apps are handled on the device.

2. Local image text recognition

Image text recognition uses Apple Vision on the device. PasteCrate does not upload images to an OCR service. Search and text transformations also run locally.

3. Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync, clipboard data selected for sync is sent to Apple CloudKit and synchronized under your personal Apple account. Apple provides this service under its own terms and privacy policy. The developer does not operate a sync server or have access to your private iCloud database.

You can leave iCloud sync disabled and use local history. Disabling sync stops future synchronization; it does not by itself erase existing copies on other devices or in iCloud. Use the available deletion controls when you want to remove saved content.

4. Optional nearby transfer

Nearby transfer starts only when you open its screen and tap Start. It may request Local Network access. The app uses a random session alias rather than your device name. Transfers use required transport encryption; the displayed alias does not verify the other person’s identity.

Only the clips you select are offered, including their attachments, titles, tags and source app information. The receiving device must accept the transfer and confirm saving. No developer server carries this content. Closing the screen, stopping or moving the app to the background ends the session. Local clipboard history remains usable without this feature.

5. Siri and Shortcuts

PasteCrate makes supported actions available through Apple Shortcuts and Siri. The action operates on local app data, subject to the permissions you grant. Apple may process your voice request according to your Siri settings. This policy does not imply that every Siri request is processed offline.

6. Feedback you choose to send

When you submit feedback, our feedback service receives the title and description you write, attachments you actively choose and basic diagnostics: app version, build number, operating system, device model and interface language. Please do not include clipboard content or personal information you do not want to share.

The feedback service uses Cloudflare Workers, D1 and R2. It does not store an advertising identifier, a device-unique identifier or an app account. Short-lived IP-based rate limiting prevents abuse; IP addresses are not saved in the feedback database. Messages and attachments are used to answer feedback and improve the app. To request deletion of a submission, contact pastecrate@hintlib.com with enough information to identify it.

7. Purchases and accounts

PasteCrate does not require a developer account. App Store purchases and any associated billing information are handled by Apple; the developer does not receive your payment-card information. The app does not include advertising, tracking or an analytics SDK.

8. This website

Cloudflare hosts this website and processes requests needed to deliver it. The website uses local browser storage to remember your chosen language and appearance. We do not add advertising cookies or visitor analytics. Emails sent to pastecrate@hintlib.com are routed through Cloudflare Email Routing to the developer’s support inbox.

9. Contact and updates

Contact pastecrate@hintlib.com about privacy or a feedback deletion request. If handling changes, this page will be updated with a new date.
